Patient2Doctor
If this is an emergency, stop reading and ring 999.
Patient2Doctor is an introduction service. It cannot help anyone who is seriously ill right now, and nobody here reads messages around the clock. Do not post a case, pay, or wait for a reply. Use the numbers below.
Not sure which? Ring 999. They would rather take the call than not.
Deaf or hard of hearing: text 999 if you have registered with emergencySMS, or use Relay UK on 18000. Outside the UK, ring your local emergency number.
Ring 999 now if there is
- Chest pain or pressure, especially with sweating, sickness or pain spreading to the arm, neck or jaw.
- Trouble breathing, or breathing that is getting worse fast.
- Signs of a stroke: face dropping on one side, an arm that cannot be lifted, slurred or lost speech. Note the time it started.
- Heavy bleeding that will not stop.
- A fit or seizure, or someone who cannot be woken or stay awake.
- A severe allergic reaction: swelling of the face, lips or throat, or a rash with breathing difficulty.
- Sudden, severe headache unlike any before, or a headache with a stiff neck, a rash that does not fade under a glass, or confusion.
- Severe burns, a serious injury, or a suspected broken neck or back.
- Someone who has taken an overdose or poison, or who is at immediate risk of harming themselves or others.
- A baby or child who is floppy, blue, grey, has a rash that does not fade, or is very hard to wake.
Ring 111 if
- You need help today but it is not life-threatening.
- You are not sure whether to go to A&E.
- Your GP surgery is closed and it cannot wait until it opens.
In a mental health crisis, 111 and choose the mental health option, or Samaritans on 116 123, free, any time.
Once you are safe and it is not urgent, Patient2Doctor is here for the slow problems: the referral that is months away, the consultant you cannot choose between. Not before.
